Raj,

There are a number of way you can approach this using either data
structures, arrays or string manipulation. A fairly crude but self-contained
working RPG/III example using string concatenation is shown below:

      C           'DSPFD'   CAT  'FILE(':1 CMD       P     
      C                     CAT  FNAME:0   CMD             
      C                     CAT  ')':0     CMD             
      C                     CALL 'QCMDEXC'                 
      C                     PARM           CMD   256       
      C                     PARM 256       CMDLEN 155      

In testing it's very easy to run it under debug, stop it on the CALL
statement and examine the contents of the CMD variable.

                   I am trying to   run   CL  command ( example  WRKSPLF) in
RPG
using  QCMDEXC.   It works  great.

But,  suppose if I want to  run

DSPFD  FILE(................),   on the   File parameter,  is there anyway I

use  the program variable?.
