I use one 3570 B 02 2 drive Magstar on 2 systems and
another 3570 C02 on the third systm and keep track of
their performance.

Price is bad, if you have them new.

Speed is acceptable. On the B type I have a 25 GB per
hour rate transfer. On the C type I have a 45 GB per
hour rate transfer. Both are during normal backups. 
Note that these are not 'commercial' banchmarks, but
my day to day results. It may vary from one system to
another as the backup procedure is not only a copy to
tape.

Talking about speed, there are other AS400 non_IBM
tapes advertised at close to 100 GB per hour, as SONY
is. The system sees them as 3570. I never tried them.
In fact, for those who are sensible to backup *REAL*
speed, probably even 3570s are not enough as they
should go to other scenarios.

Maximum capacity per cartridge peaked a 41 GB on B and
C, but it depends on files compression ratio which is
variable.

Reliable 100 %. No fail.

There are 'some' system PTFs which require a tape
microcode upgrade.
