Here is the How to Do It: http://www.as400.ibm.com/domino/ipcs/fsioslip.htm You can use the existing comm cables as I recall, but that will depend on the modem you are using.... IBM even gives you a list of the modems that will work... This entire procedure was spelled out in Midrange Computing a few years back but the IBM version does a pretty good job of describing how to do it.... Software is another problem and file transfers will be problematic...
