Speaking as someone who has done several complete unload/reloads from one
iSeries to another, yes option 21 does save everything except for spool
files, contents of data queues and some other odd things like that. I've
always used this as an excuse to delete all spool files. Although a few
users who make really good cookies are taught how to send their spool files
to another 400 and send them back on Monday.

Standard disclaimer - Use two backups in case the tape goes bad. However
it's been years since we've had enough time in our window to do that.
(Don't do what I do - do what I say.)

Referring to the GO SAVE operations menu...we are trying to back up both
our
system and application - based data in preparation of a disc drive
replacement.

Does the "ENTIRE SYSTEM" option (21) save both system stuff (e.g. usrprf,
authority, config) as well as system and user libraries?

If, heaven forbid, a restore situation arises, can all of the appropriate
commands (e.g. rstaut, rstconfig, rstusrprf, rstlib, rstobj, rstdoc, etc.)
be executed from that tape without any extra considerations?

Does option 22, Save System data, perform the equivalent of the old SAVSYS?
If not, what option on this menu does?

Thanks much.
