It depends on what you are restoring from the ifs.  NWS's are one example.

General rule of thumb, run the following and varyoff everything except tape
drives, CD's and the system console:
WRKCFGSTS...
*NWS
*NWI
*LIN
*CTL
*DEV
Probably in that order.

does this also apply to the IFS?
do I need to so anything special before a go save opt 21?
I have run into problems with the restoration of the IFS in the past.
