Rob,

Just taking a 5-minute break...

I, personally, am running a single 170 (in the process of adding a 270).

The client runs a central 830, with somewhere between 50 - 100 270's
attached somehow thru WAN. I've seen these commands, but never had occasion
to use them. What I started on did essentially the same, through FTP and
RUNRMTCMD. (I don't recall precisely how, however...;-) Client wanted me
to get back and document this anyway, so I'll get back this weekend, if you
want.

(BTW, I resist the temptation to continue the discussion on whether *nix is
easier to administer than 400. But the fact is, the personnel in these
stores are "technically-challenged", so they're run from the home-office.)

| JT,
|
| Are you running in a multi 400 shop?
|
| There are commands called
| SAVRST
| SAVRSTOBJ
| SAVRSTLIB
| Which basically save an object, move it to the remote 400, and restore it.
| These commands are part of
| 57xxSS1 22 - OS/400 - ObjectConnect
|
| This is the function I am looking for in a ftp world.

| Rob,
|
| Doesn't the RUNRMTCMD suffice? In any event, I don't believe you need the
| source for these commands. Seems this can be done strictly with FTP.
|
| I started on a project to do this for a client, but never finished it.
| Been
| meaning to refresh my memory on the thing, and if you want to take the FTP
| route I can post something on it (although maybe not the code).
