Waste of space?  Maybe.  Interesting though...

The power mac cpu, like all cpus in wide distribution, runs one thing at a
time.  This is no different than the iSeries cpu.  The power mac OS is
multi-tasking just like OS/400.  Whether it multi-tasks as well as os/400
is the subject of testing.

Well fortunately we have this very useful link which compares the P4 cpu
to the G4.
