We have one, but haven't used it much.  We got it about 2 years ago when we
were told on a Thursday that the company had just purchased a new branch and
could we have them up on our computer systems by Monday?  (Yes, I mean
literally 3 days notice.)  The controller is great because it has the
encryption built in and can run over the Internet.  That gives you a lot of
options: dialup to ISP, ISDN/cable/DSL, frame relay.  I used it on another
branch when they moved and needed computers fast (before the frame relay
could be installed.)  There were problems at first (2 years ago) but the
software has been improved and works very well.

Can't comment on the performance - we didn't have enough bandwidth!
