Just to round out the rest of the picture:


IDSL - Connects at 144Kbps using ISDN transmission coding.

HDSL - High bit rate DSL. T1 speeds, but uses 2 lines.

RADSL - Rate adaptive DSL. Same as ADSL, except modems negotiate for line
speed based on quality of connection.

VDSL - Fastest performer with up to 50Mbps. But only over short distances
(1000 to 4500 feet).
