(I thought I was done opinionating fer the day, but back fer a sec and..;-) Saw this link which speaks to some-a these points. http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/news/pdf/iseries_news_040303.pd f (In rare disagreement with Dr. Soltis!...:-) don't believe it's gonna be 10 years before we'll start using Mr. Gerstner's and Mr. Palimisano's ideas on IT-as-utility. The thing I'd like to see is the ability for computers to shoot off data/program code each, as necessary, to multiple computers... This way, if MIPS are available on several other (possibly much faster and/or less busy) computers, whichever result-set comes back quickest could be used, (and verified with each other). Which might not even be the local server. Large enterprises, and mebbe later collaborating companies, could set up their own Powergrids. The problem(s) being a proprietary patent on some-a these processes (and mebbe not having pretty-much tamper-proof DigID to identify trusted computer resources?). | -----Original Message----- | Sent: Monday, April 28, 2003 12:25 PM | Subject: RE: Did IBM Hijack Apache???? | | | Comments inline: | | | -----Original Message----- | | [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Steve Richter | | Sent: Friday, April 25, 2003 6:04 PM | | | -----Original Message----- | | From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx | | [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Shannon O'Donnell | | Sent: Friday, April 25, 2003 3:07 PM
