Steve, I would normally do just that, but what I'm accually testing for is performance, so I need the big files to make the query optimizer make the same decisions it would under normal loading. rick ------original message--------- Rick, If you're concerned about the size of the files, why not copy a small subset of the data in the component PF's to a separate library and build your join logical there? That is what I do in these situations to save both space and time. Steve
