We've been installing an i5 the last couple of days and during the 'hurry up
and wait' phases I've been talking to the SIS engineer about using BRMS
which will be new to me.

He said a number of companies use 10 tapes in rotation, 5 per week,
alternating. On Monday they will load 5 tapes into the tape drive and leave
them there all week. BRMS will use a different tape each day. On Friday
they get removed and stored. The following Monday the other 5 tapes are
loaded and the week is repeated.

Do companies actually do this? Backup onto a tape and leave it in the
drive? There is no way I would do this. Once the backup is finished, the
tape is removed and stored in the fire-resistant safe within a few minutes.
Why would you leave your most current backups in the tape drive while older
backups are stored in the safe? Am I crazy?
