People, way to tear each other up over something as stupid as computers. Punch the clock and work on whatever technology it is people are buying. They aren't always going to choose: best, cheapest, most scalable, unscalable, least reliable, most reliable. More and more they just want the platform that runs the apps they need. Companies exist to make money. All that crap about mission statements etc, is just crap. Here is the real mission statement of any for profit company. "To make as much money as possible while spending as little as possible to do it." Taking that into account of course Microsoft wants the business. If the iSeries is losing marketshare it's IBM's fault. Maybe they are making a mistake, maybe they are realists, maybe they don't have a clue. In any event, does it matter? There will be some computing technology for you to work on tomorrow. Whether it's better or worse, who cares? Take your paycheck and quit trying to save the world from themselves.
