So getting more specific on the systems I'm running this on - if I have 4 LPARs on a 570+, all at V5R3, all synchronized to same time server, all at same time zone, all in BRMS network on TCP/IP - is the consensus that they'd be ok for the time changes? -- Justin C. First of all it isn't gradual (maybe it should have been, but it isn't [Gradual time adjustment was added in V5R3, but models 7xx, 170 and 250, all of which can run V5R3 are incapable of this function.]). I would point out that it is theoretically possible to have more trivial problems when you "spring forward". I wrote an application last week that did a time prediction, and it dawned on me that it were running during "spring ahead", the prediction would be inaccurate. I assessed the risk/reward/cost of adjusting my prediction, and I determined that the "screw it" method made the most reasonable sense. How does BRMS handle the automatic time changes with V5R3 and the newer hardware platforms which change the time automatically? Assume all the systems are synchronized to the same time server and are in the same time zone. Logically, I'd think that BRMS wouldn't care, because the time change, especially fall back is slowly implemented, not just snapped backward - the time in fact never reverses. Thoughts? -- Justin C.
