I Agree with Lukas, this is a LIC only upgrade but you do replace the LIC
and the Base i5/OS during the upgrade. You will definitely need to put the
same or newer level of PTFs on after you do the upgrade. If you are looking
to save time, you could just do a GO SAVE 22 after the upgrade, which would
just save everything BUT your stuff (SAVSYS, SAVLIB *IBM, and SAV
/QIBM/PRODDATA). That will save you some time.

Also, you will want to make sure that you have the latest refresh of
V5R4M5 I_BASE_01 CD, which is currently RSF
(AKA RS 545-F). This will make the load and apply of the MF PTF's quicker.
You need to use the B2924_01 CD that came with the V5R4M5 software, and not
the original one that came with V5R4 if that CD is less than RS 540-30.

After the upgrade to V5R4M5, you will also notice that the MH PTFs
are no longer part of 5722-999, they have now moved to their own LPP called
5733-905 (power 5) or 5733-906 (Power 6).

Good luck, it really is a piece of cake.

We are still on V5R4M0 but applied a lot of CUMS and PTFs last weekend, as

upgrade.

V5R4M0->V5R4M5 is a LIC-only upgrade. It will not change and update
any userland applications like BIND or Apache.
