It runs on top of VIOS (which is AIX) - but VIOS brings back the
concept of a primary LPAR - it hosts the resources and emulates
virtual resources. Currently, this is used in the Blades.

Of course IVM doesn't support 5250. This could be fixed though, with a
Java applet - that's what Chris was playing at - System x servers have
an IMM that exposes KVM through a java applet to the browser.

It would be possible to do this - the FSP already has a tiny web
interface (ASMI), what you'd need to tag on is the ability to host a
5250 console, which is then accessed by the browser.

The question is whether it makes sense financially.

No, i'd welcome this. I don't like OpsCon and it's requirement to have
a full-fledged Windows PC sitting next to a system for two years,
being broken when it's finally needed.
