Tommy

Service Agent is something that just runs on your IBM i and does its thing with the PTFs - there's probably some config to get it going, but then it's another kind of phone-home thing.

I'll have to look for that when I get a few minutes of spare time (ain't
gonna happen soon lol) but the verification tool was very light weight,
small footprint and web-based which imo is a better option than *anything*
in navigator (which is where I'm assuming that functionality might be)

Tommy, I think there is something to this using service agent that will
check your system against PTF's that are available and will automatically
get them and apply them as necessary.

There used to be a piece in ISERIES ACCESS where you could do a ptf
compare
as well.

I wish they had a tool like the "Pre-upgrade certification tool" for
PTFs... would make it much easier if would "interrogate" the system and
then check Fix central for new PTFs that aren't applied. Similar to the
way that Installation Manager checks for updates to RDp, etc. (slightly
off-topic I guess)

This is the starting point:

http://www-01.ibm.com/software/howtobuy/passportadvantage/

You need to have an account (of course).

And then the fun begins. I've never liked their site; it always seems
to
fight me. I'm expecting something like the iSeries FixCentral, and it's
not. It's closer to a PC-software vendor's site, but as designed by
IBM.
