Albert,

Looks like you need as UPDATE lock. SELECT grants a READ lock on the record. If the file is journaled then a SQL UPDATE will grant an UPDATE lock. Use ROLLBACK (or exit out of STRSQL) to abandon the UPDATE and release the lock.

I need to be able to lock a record in a file in order to do some testing.

The system that I am testing on does not have an RPG compiler.

Is there a way to lock a record without writing a program?
