You might give the following SQL statement a try using the STRSQL command
or another command that lets you run SQL statements. The "with rs" part
of the statement will cause the row/record to be locked until a COMMIT or
ROLLBACK command is issued either from STRSQL, your other command to run
SQL statements, or the command line.

select * from TABLE where KEYCOLUMN = KEYVALUE with rs

I need to be able to lock a record in a file in order to do some testing.

The system that I am testing on does not have an RPG compiler.

Is there a way to lock a record without writing a program?

Thanks,

Albert
