How do you handle the lack of control of files on the print queue? When
we switched to ethernet we lost the ability to manage queued print jobs
that are in RDY status because they get sucked into the printer's buffer
and then clear the queue.

IBM 6400s and 6500s. One gotcha that we ran into ... regardless of
whether it was originally twinax and converted to ethernet, or
purchased as ethernet, they won't accept the number of lines per page
from host. You have to change it on the printer itself. But on
twinax they did accept the number of lines from the host.
They also are generally more finicky on ethernet.
We just changed our last twinax printer to ethernet yesterday. I'll
probably wait through our July month-end close to make sure that there
are no problems, then I'm pulling the Perle out of the rack and waving
bye-bye as it heads off to electronics recycling.
