Make sure you've allocated all of the available processing power and memory to the LPAR being restored.

In the LPAR itself, make sure memory pools and time slices (classes) allocate local resources to the restore jobs.

Saves/Restores are resource hogs!

Clean your tape drives! One extra 'clean' per drive isn't a major crime! (:
