Xerox. Always go with the Xerox Work Centre brand of printers. Xerox
publishes a set of tools that make printer configurations a piece of cake.
Forget the title "AS/400" and get the tools. I used them for years.

Subject: Printer issue
Hello all,
So we're having a printer issue that has just completely stumped me. Here's
what's happening. We have a printer that is network-connected and has its
own IP address on our system. We have an output queue set up for that
printer. In the past few days we've started seeing error messages that said
"Problem with SPKPRT", SPKPRT being the name of the printer. Doing a
"Retry" just causes the error again. We can successfully ping the printer
from both the IBM i side and the Windows side. People can still print
Windows documents to the printer with no problem. In the past when I've
seen this type of error it's usually been some sort of a hardware issue with
the printer. We have access to the configuration of the printer and the
printer itself is not reporting any sort of hardware issue. I should
mention that this printer is at a remote location (the printer is at our
facility in Nevada and I'm in Ohio). Here is the config of the printer:

Anyone out there have any thoughts on what might cause this? I've heard the
suggestion to change this to a remote output queue, but doing this would
cause us to lose the use of the workstation customization object we're
using, and to define any other specifics about the printer itself. Any
input on this would be most appreciated. Thanks!
