Re: SFTP

Hi all,

after using a Java library from PDF conversions lately (using Apache PdfBox) I found that using Java classes and objects is quite easy in RPG.

So my idea would be using one of the prominent Java libraries for SSH - like SSHJ, JSch, or Apache Commons VFS - and calling the Java methods directly from RPG.

This way you wouldn't have to implement SFTP in ILE-RPG - but you have full control over the SSH session and the SFTP transfers.

OK, I know - JAR files, CLASSPATH, *JAVA objects and prototypes and JNI are somehow a huge PITA - but Java is reasonable fast and works quite well. A bit of Java programming experience is useful - and you can more or less 1:1 translate the Java examples into working RPG code.

If you like, I can try to implement a small example - but it will take some days, as my spare time is quite limited right now.

partners
I only have a couple going, with my own code, all initiated from our server
(referred to both Scott Klement docs and IBM docs) , and if your doing your
own code - some extra steps if partner requires a user/pwd instead of (or
on top of) trusted keys.
Make sure any packaged software handles the variations in requirements,
because not all the same
