"I would suggest fixing the Win98 rather than going to ME, unless you are
prepared for the thousands of fixes and/or errors in ME. In earlier versions
of Symantec products, there was an Uninstall utility that would allow you to
uninstall/save for later use. I used to use it to save space.
A very long time ago, we used to use a DB9 to DB9 serial cable to connect
two PC's and use HyperTerminal to connect the two systems. We transferred
files using the Com ports. I haven't done it in about 7 years. The only
other alternative to actually back the data up would be to use WinZip or
another zip utility that would allow you to span across floppy disks.

it a try.  If not, I will go with WINZIP and floppies...
