With Yahoo there are two choices:
1) pay for POP3 option from Yahoo
2) Get YahooPops - http://yahoopops.sourceforge.net/

I have been using YahooPops for a few months now. I would have to say it is one of the best finds on the Internet for me in a long time. Works quite well. Have not had any problems with it.

Related to the previous thread, but new subject.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to work with my Yahoo email in a local client,
which I've heard can be done. The web-based client is too slow & awkward
for my tastes.

I'm not stuck to Yahoo webmail, so I'd be willing to consider other services
as long as they're free and aren't extremely restrictive on volume.

Can anyone recommend / advise?
