At home I strickly use Firefox and Thunderbird. Both Firefox and
Thunderbird are a bit different, so it may take a bit getting used to,
but they are both exellent products. I haven't tried the import for a
long time, but the last I knew it worked excellent. It brings over
your accounts, mail, and contacts (thunderbird) and your bookmarks
(firefox). For Spam protection, Thunderbird does a decent job.
Although it takes time to train it.

My best suggestion would be to try it. Maybe start with Firefox, then
try out Thunderbird. Everyone seems to have different opinions about
it. Mostly good, but I have heard a few bad.
