No Registry Mechanic experience but recently I had to go into Regedit and
delete the "Compress Old Files" entry because when it was active the MS
supplied Disk Clean would not work and as a matter of fact it would shut
down my machine. MS support tech suggested that there were probably old
versions of OS code in the Compress Old Files directory. Has worked like a
charm since then.

Also would like to suggest "SystemSuite6" professional by VCOM. Has very
good disk clean-up, defrag, and registry mechanics. It even has a virus
scanner which is optional.

Subject: [PCTECH] Registry Mechanic

Anyone had any experience good or bad with Registry Mechanic - or for that
matter have any other recommendations?

I've been having stability problems with my PC ad did a scan with the free
version. It identified over 1,600 problems (not bad on a 12 month old
machine!) - many of which relate to Symantec products that I thought I had
banished from my machine after the last AV "upgrade" roasted the machine for
over 24 hours!
