I've got the Plextor ConvertX (see
http://www.plextor.com/english/products/tv402u.htm ) which I used back
when I had an 8mm camera.
I used it in combination with InterVideo WinDVD Creator for making DVD's
and it has all the options the hobby filmer needs: cutting, adding sound,
slideshows, menus, etc.
I also use Ulead DVD MovieFactory.
FWIW, both software products are now under the Corel flag.

[PCTECH] Video capture suggestions
I want to take some 8mm analog videos and post them on a web site.
Obviously I need some sort of software to capture the video and convert
them
to a digital format. Do I also need a specific type of video card for the
PC? The camcorder only has an RCA cable for connection to a TV, no USB or
other cables.
Any recommendations for software and/or hardware?
