I am running Windows 8 in Parallels. So yes, Windows 7 is supported.

Now that virtualization has been mentioned, I'll have to see if I can

add-on that must be purchased, or at least installed?

Does Boot Camp or Parallels support Windows 7 now?  The last that I heard
(which was probably over a year ago) the option for using Windows on a Mac
was XP.  Since XP has been put out to pasture by Microsoft I would assume
that Apple is now supporting Windows 7 but I haven't heard of anyone
actually doing it.
