If not necessary to run, manufacturer driver should be better optimized
than the generic MS drivers.

There may also be features that the MS drivers don't support.

Of course, there may also be problems.  Many motherboard RAID drivers, for
instance, don't play well with SSDs, especially when it comes to
semi-mundane stuff like diagnostics & firmware upgrades.
