Done it many times, with no issues. My rules for success are:

1. make absolutely certain that the bios image you are flashing is for
your system, and
2. once you start the process, hold your breath, don't touch anything,
don't get up from your desk or move until it's finished flashing

I always imagined that I'd get up and trip over a power cord as it's mid-flash, for instance. So...consider #2 purely optional. ;) But, seriously, now that I look back, bios flashing has helped me cure some unusual issues. It's worth a shot, for sure! Let us know how it goes!
