You're right, it is there in FF. It's just not "in your face". When I am
at my coworkers desk helping her and using her browser the search stuff is
much more in your face.

Rob,
Your message surprises me, as I've always used FF as my main browser,
but (due to the business I'm in) I also use Chrome, IE, Safari, Opera
and Edge on a regular basis.
I've never once had to clear my cache for something in FF to work.
Could it be that your FF cache database is corrupt? Have you tried
creating a new profile?
With regards to searching in the omnibox... seems to me that all
browsers, including Firefox, work that way. Don't they? Firefox has a
separate search box, but if you type your search in the URL box, it'll
still search on it (unless it recognizes it as a valid URL). Unless
you're using an old version?
Why would you even consider IE? I mean, this is a browser that even
Microsoft says not to use, and has said they are not developing it
further. While there are some nice things about it, it has no future...
I wouldn't consider using it unless you must for compatibility with an
old application.

After the umpteenth time (today) of having to clear my cache to get toyour

default browser.
The import bookmarks from FF doesn't work. There is a way to export
FF bookmarks to a html file and import that html file which worked forme.
Not exactly the way I would want it but, kind of ok.I
I do not like to search from the "omnibox" I want that to only do URLs.
found a February 2017 article on how to go to chrome://flags/. and turnit
off but I couldn't find the flag they noted. I checked and I am on thealso
current version of Chrome.
Found another article which talked about an advanced setting but that
turns off predictive URL and I'm not ready to turn that off yet. I haveused
some long urls I use and I can type faster than drilling down through
bookmarks. I have a coworker and I swear if should had a click pad for
every letter of the alphabet should would mouse everything. And she
to be one of those "take my 3180 terminal??? from my cold dead hands..."--
type of people.
Thought about IE but I'm still on Windows 7 Professional using IE11
(they're spinning me up a new PC as I type). IE doesn't play well with
IBM Navigator for i. Downright hideous. And IBM does not list IE as a
supported browser for Nav.
