IMHO, a really great starting place is Susan Gantner's sessions on ILE
concepts.
The RPG & DB2 Summit that's coming up in October will have a strong
focus on this type of material, if that interests you.

You can learn all of the same things at COMMON as well, but in my
experience it's hard to focus on a particular topic at COMMON because
there are so many other exciting things going on, you always end up
sacrificing some part of your track in order to see something else that
you didn't want to miss. (Though the COMMON Focus might be different,
I'm referring to the big annual conference.)
