You know what? I was imprecise. I shouldn't have characterized Aaron's terminology as "unprofessional", because it really wasn't. His calling a syntax feature a "bummer" simply made an implication which was, in my opinion, misleading.

I objected because of the implied bias, not the actual wording. And so it really wasn't unprofessional of him, although I do consider it inaccurate.

On the other hand, I still don't consider informal chatter to be unprofessional, especially on a mailing list, and in the context it was used I think "kick the living crap out of" was perfectly appropriate, if not particularly PC.

And if you haven't guessed it I'm pretty anti-PC. :) But I digress...
