5733OPS installs Python as 'python3'. This throws a gyp error: 'Error:
Can't find Python executable "python"'

When I run npm install again I get a new gyp error: 'Python executable "python" is v3.4.2, which is not supported by gyp'

IBM gave us Python 3.

As others have mentioned, there is a huge code base of Python 2.x and a good portion of that code requires some changes before its Python 3.x compatible.

From node-gyp Github page:

On Unix: python (v2.7 recommended, v3.x.x is not supported)

So it looks like you may not be able to use this tool unless you get Python 2.x installed and you will potentially have to do that directly into PASE since IBM only gave us Python 3.x through 5733OPS.
