Just trying to understand both sides of this particular point. We want to
move towards a services based architecture (evolution, not big bang), and
the interchangeability of web services with other ways of accessing data
seems relevant.


Yes, I was referring to the PHP MVC frameworks that were mentioned in the
original post. But I was also thinking about MVC frameworks generally. In
the case of broadly scoped applications, I don't accept assurances of
"directly interchangeable", as a matter of fact.
