In regard to "overhead", wouldn't that be true for *ANY and *ALL storage
engines, not just the one for DB2 for i? MySQL and MariaDB are designed to
connect to a storage engine. It's just a question of which performs the
best. The MariaDB Foundation has some suggestions.
