(Don't know why, but VB6 won't recognize it any other way for me.) 2) Create a JET database, link the AS/400 table, and then use VB to access it via that link instead of trying to access it directly from the AS/400. Also, you may just be using the wrong naming convention, or VB4 may be forming the wrong names for you. The SQL convention is LIBRARY.TABLENAME, for ex.: "SELECT * FROM FOO.BAR BAR;" So maybe using an explicit "SELECT *" statement in the openrecordset(), instead of a table name will work as well. (or possibly just using 'LIB.TABLE' instead of 'LIB/TABLE' might) Sorry I can't be more specific, but I don't have VB4 (or any version of JET it is compatible with) and I'm sure there are considerable differences between it and VB6 or VB.NET. Good luck. ------------- From: "Fisher, Don" <Dfisher@roomstoreeast.com> According to those documents, the message is not my problem. So does anyone know why I'm getting "Run-time error '3078': Couldn't find input table or query 'filename/membername'"? I have tried various parameter combinations of the OpenDatabase and OpenRecordset methods with no good results. The file and member exist and authority does not appear to be an issue. I have tried different settings of the ODBC driver, including the "Translate CCSID" setting to no avail. I have also checked the archives but did not see anything there that might help. I just know I'm going to feel silly when the answer is revealed because this shouldn't be that hard. Donald R.
