I do need a version that will allow me to compile it into an executable so
it can run unattended and I don't think the basic versions will allow that.
This program will eventually retrieve the data from the AS/400 (yes, I am
thinking about using the Client Access file transfer given the headaches
this is causing), put it into a pre-formatted Excel spreadsheet, and then
e-mail the spreadsheet to specified people.

Tell your boss that is will cost you *MUCH* more to figure out all the
problems, changes and issues with VB4, RDO, the Jet engine and CA then the
cost of a non-enterprise version of VB6 (or VB.NET). If you're just starting
with VB it's safe to assume that you don't need enterprise.

At worst, spend the $109 for VB.NET and call MS and ask for a VB6 CD, the
license should be back-levelable.
