What I meant was that the parm MAILROUTER was blank and FIREWALL was NO. At that point the SMTP server looks for an IP resolution for the desire Domain Name using the host table followed by the DNS server of record. If the SMTPA stuff is assigned, it is up to the assigned mail router to locate the desired SMTP server.
