believe your going to set it to lan console via the 65+21 route. Once that
is done then get into sst and set the lan console settings. once you set
the lan console settings then you can est the lan console software on the
pc side.

Jim - I am in a function 21 now. I got into DST and changed to LAN
console. But so far when I config a session on the PC I get:

The Local configured console name 127.0.0.0 does not match the actual
configured console name <mypcnname>.

Not sure why it's saying that. I have assigned the IP address ending in
.60 to the AS/400, the one ending in .61 to the PC, and am trying to assign
the one ending in .62 to the AS/400 console card in slot C05.

The procedure in the V5R4 Info center is essentially the same as it was
in V5R2, difference being some of the options for setting up the console
device and the user. You may have to hunt/peck for those. Also, I
don't remember exactly but there was a change where you could get to
those functions with SST, at V5R2 they may only be available from DST.
I would try a function 21 to see if the DST presented that way will give
you the options, otherwise you may have to IPL into DST to set it up.

That option was not added until V5R4 I think. You need to use the front
panel (65+21) to change the console. I think the link sent earlier has
the exact instructions.

Jack - this is opt 8 in V5R2:

8. Work with service tools user IDs

Which brings me here:

Work with Service Tools User IDs
System:
pe option, press Enter.
1=Create 2=Change password 3=Delete
4=Display 5=Enable 6=Disable
7=Change privileges 8=Change description

There is no option to set the console type. Is it somewhere else in
V5R2?

start SST, take opiton 8 (Work with service tools user IDs and
Devices),
can you do anything with option 3 that would allow you to change it
to lan
console.
