Here's one from a company gobbling up others.
Let's say you have multiple lpars of IBM i and an lpar of AIX on your
Power box. You activate more processors on that box. But you allocate
them to lpars other than the one running this software. However you still
have to pay for the increased processors which are allocated to any lpar
of IBM i.
Vendor: You can put them in the same shared processor pool and if it
needs it then it will grab it.
Customer: We can create a separate shared pool or even put this lpar into
a dedicated processor and other software vendors respect that capability.
Vendor: We don't do that as we few that as a hassle and it limits your
flexibility.
Customer: Well, since we're paying for all this processor can we run your
software on the other lpars also?
Vendor: Sure. Once you pay the lpar licensing fee also...
Customer: Nevermind.
