Not by me. My advice was to use GPO to force log off and/or shutdown and to
put up with the complaints until they got used to it. Roaming profiles was
one reason for that advice.


Every desktop PC has it's Docs & Settings folder backed up up to a
server 5 days a week, to 5 different locations.


That's good, so you should be able to recreate a profile if it gets
corrupted or lost.

I suggest making sure that "My Documents", "My Music", etc. are *not* in the
roaming profile because they get big. This may require some special
configuration.


They still sign off Friday night. And I _never_ sign off my PC unless
a reboot is required. Even over the weekend.


That is probably sufficient, although you might want to enforce it via GPO.
You may also want to advise them to log off and back on when they change
their passwords and also when they install apps or tweak their desktop.
