Thanks to all who replied: FYI, I ended up using a workaround that's only a little kludgy: I went ahead and submitted the form, and in the next %html block ran my verify routines on the items that needed server side verification - on error, I just did an alert() and a history.back(). The web page temporily goes "white" but using history.back() restores my form fields (because of value= tag parms with $(field) in them). This, I can live with. Thanks again, Rick On 7/24/06, Matt.Haas@xxxxxxxxxxx <Matt.Haas@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:
AJAX lets you make a server call without submitting the form. You will not be able to use Net.Data inside of JavaScript since Net.Data is server side and JavaScript is client side. This leaves you with two options: 1) Submit the form, 2) Use AJAX (note that you'll still want to validate the form when it's submitted). I'm sure there are examples of forms being verified via db2 database, maybe I don't want to use javascript at all. the examples I'm looking at all go ahead and submit the form, but that seems unwealdy. maybe that's what I should do though.
