The way I see it is that mailing lists are zero-effort. All I have to do is
subscribe in email (RSS would work as well) and if I want to interact, I
can.
Otherwise I just archive or delete the message(s) and move on. If I have to
visit a website, I'll quickly forget about the website. If it is a forum,
give me an RSS and I'll be more likely to interact.

Now I haven't really checked out the website, so I can't speak more about it
than that...
