The following licensed programs are required:

57xx-SS1 *BASE --- OS/400
57xx-SS1 opt 30 --- QShell (part of OS/400)
57xx-SS1 opt 33 --- PASE (part of OS/400)

The only purchase cost in those is the cost of OS/400 itself (which you presumably already have entitlement to!)

You also need:

57xx-SC1 *BASE -- Portable Utilities for OS/400
57xx-PTL *BASE -- iSeries Tools for Developers

These are both free.

Plus, obviously, you need MySQL, which comes in a free and paid addition, as discussed in my earlier message.

This is all documented in the (free) Redbook you can download here:

So, there is no licensed product to install or anything like that? Or is
MySQL installed completely out of the i install process?
I ask since our system admins are telling me that there is a cost
associated with installing MySQL but my suspicion is that this is not the
case. I had asked to get the PTFs to support the DB2 for i storage engine
and that is when I was told that they can't do it due to a cost for MySQL
on the i.
