Automatic translation tools are OK as a first cut but you
need a native language speaker to edit. The Google tools do a
great job of translating as you can tell by translating a
foreign web page into English but the result, although
generally comprehensible, is often very strange to a native
speaker as you can tell by translating a foreign web page
into English.

The result looks translated and in many cases a native
speaker will go WTF?

what a load of old dingo's danglies!

Translates on google into french : Qu'est-ce qu'un chargement de danglies vieux dingo.

Although the original has lost all its charm, the translation also has a certain je ne sais quoi.

It's a lot better than <couleur> that translates to <color> instead of <colour>, despite there being no <american> in the drop down list.
